Mindy Ellen Levine Day Camp

CIT/LIT Leadership Camps Rising

Grades 9 & 10

Acceptance into the CIT/LIT programs is based on an application and interview. CIT & LIT Programs provide a summer experience that will give 9th and 10th grade teens, who want to work with children, a greater understanding of what it means to be a Summer Camp Counselor. Both programs will take part in leadership building activities, skills development, and fun group trips! The CIT program will focus on the daily structure of camp and counselor schedules. Teens will be introduced to planning counselor led activities, basic First Aid training, team building activities, circle games, and how to become an effective and successful counselor. They will also be assigned to a group to observe counselors in action. The LIT program will focus on the daily ins and outs of making camp run successfully. Teens will learn to plan group activities, modify activities for various age groups, child development, guidance techniques and First Aid training. CITs/LITs will take part in an evaluation based on their performance during the program. That evaluation will be considered when applying for employment as a Junior Counselor for Camp Mindy in future summers.
