Camp Deeny Riback is JCC MetroWest's premiere summer day camp for campers ages 3 1/2 to 15. Fully accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), CDR is located on 35 beautiful wooded acres in Flanders, NJ. Camp Deeny Riback sessions last 4, 6, 7, or 8 weeks. A full hot and cold lunch is included and door-to-door transportation is provided to most towns within Essex and Morris counties as well as centralized transportation from the JCC facility in W. Orange and the Aidekman Campus in Whippany.
Each day at CDR is magical as campers participate in a full program including athletics, aquatics, performing arts, nature/science, mountain biking, archery, digital photography and many other great programming activities. A weekly special event and camp wide Shabbat celebration round out the week. As the premier Jewish day camp in Morris County, Camp Deeny Riback provides our campers with a traditional camp experience where life skills are learned and lifelong friendships are created.
Junior Village is CDR's "camp within a camp", designed for success and built for fun. In "JV" our Pre K, K and 1st grade camper's creativity will shine, confidence will grow, and their sports skills will explode. Facilities include a heated zero-entry pool, mini-sized tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball, ropes course with zip line and Deenyville, our creative playland.
Middle Camp is the place for campers in grades 2-4, where they can explore all that CDR has to offer while enhancing their individual camp experience with weekly activity choices in a structured camp environment. Their schedule draws from over 30 program areas as well as boating on Budd Lake. The Middle Camp program also includes a 1-hour/day "chugim" (elective) period, an off-site trip and 1 Late-Stay (2nd grade) or Overnight (3rd and 4th grades).
Maccabi is the CDR sports unit for campers in grades 3-8 and is geared for the athletic child who wants to have a more competitive sports program where sportsmanship and fun are incorporated as a parallel for life-skills. The program includes weekly sports trips, clinics and specialized athletic programming.
Upper Camp for campers in grades 5-8 offers a more mature camp experience. With two "chugim" (elective) periods, campers have the opportunity to tailor their camp experience. The traditional day camp experience is enhanced with weekly single and multi-day trips that give our oldest campers an opportunity to travel.
The L.I.T. (Leader-in-Training) program helps teens entering grades 9-10 gain valuable hands-on leadership skills. From running the annual "Big Give" social action project to working with campers, L.I.T.'s have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team.
