In our newest summer program, B'Emet (in truth), we're meeting teens at the intersection of our core values to grapple with the shifting food system in our communities and beyond. We'll deepen our teen community and empower one another to re-imagine how we feed ourselves, envisioning a roadmap to a healthier food system, society, and planet.
Through six sessions across three weeks, teens will collaborate on an investigative journalism project to explore what's going on right now within our food system. They'll conduct interviews, develop a narrative, and produce a short audio story with their findings (to be broadcast on our radio show this summer!). Teens will speak with farmers, chefs, community members, and each other to unpack the current situation and develop a unique narrative from their point of view. They will have the autonomy as a cohort to decide what issue to dive into, from factory farming, to meat production, implications on climate, racial inequities in our food systems, the obesity epidemic, and more.
