Great Jewish Books Summer Program

How can the rich legacy of modern Jewish literature inform us in the twenty-first century? This is the question at the heart of the Great Jewish Books Summer Program, which offers high school students an opportunity for intensive engagement with books and ideas. Under the guidance of college professors, participants read selections from important works of modern Jewish literature and consider how they speak to the opportunities and challenges we face today.

Although the program’s focus is on reading, this is not school in any conventional sense: Great Jewish Books is a lively program full of social, cultural, and recreational opportunities—and no grades. The program brings together high school students who read for the love of reading and who are eager to discover the treasures of the Jewish canon. They come to the Yiddish Book Center in beautiful western Massachusetts—home to five prestigious colleges and universities—to read, discuss, argue about, and fall in love with modern Jewish literature.

Sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. For more information and to apply: http://www.yiddishbookcenter.org/great-jewish-books
