Yachad Morris Sandelbaum High School Fellowship Program

The Yachad Morris Sandelbaum High School Fellowship Program is an intensive leadership training experience designed for post-11th graders prepared to go beyond their comfort level in new, inconceivable ways. Under the direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship of their onsite Yachad summer program director, Fellows are challenged through a hands-on learning environment, impacting the lives of our peers with disabilities.

Fellows spend between 2 and 4 weeks (the equivalent of 1 session) on the stunning grounds of their preferred summer camp. Fellows will play an integral role helping to develop participants' critical life skills while forging meaningful bonds. Beyond their day-to-day responsibilities, Fellows are assigned junior counselor tasks within the larger framework of Yachad's daytime and evening programming. Both Directors of the Fellowship Program are directly accessible and available 24/6 throughout the summer to provide ongoing support (or advice) as new skills are acquired.

Fellows return home for their final year of high school more mature and confident, as critical-thinkers and problem-solvers – a result of their unique, very personal experience. A fun, unforgettable summer with countless memories to cherish is promised to all – as well as a guaranteed position for Summer 2022 as either a counselor or job coach at the Yachad summer program of your choice (upon program completion).

Fellows learn and train together in the Spring over one jampacked (and exciting!) Shabbaton and several half-day workshops, developing the language, skills, and core competencies their educational journey will require. In addition to the team trainings, Fellows will learn through real-life field experience, working directly with people with disabilities prior to the program's onset.
